Peaches for Monsieur Le Cure by Joanne Harris is perhaps the best book I have read for a long time!

For those of you that have read and enjoyed Chocolat then Peaches for Monsieur Le Cure is a veritable feast for this summer’s reading list.

“When Vianne Rocher receives a letter form beyond the grave she allows the wind to take her back to the village in South West France where eight years previously she had opened a chocolate shop. But Lansquenet is different now: women veiled in black, the scent of spices and peppermint tea, and, on the bank of the Tannes, facing the church: a minaret.

Nor is it only incomers from North Africa that have brought change. Father Reynaud, Vianne’s erstwhile adversary, is disgraced and under threat. Could it be the Vianne is the only one who can save him now?”

Every page that you read makes you want to turn to the next, it is the story of two cultures, the people, the customs. As the story unfolds you are transported to a French village where you can watch the events unfurl.  Joanne Harris is a writer who can paint the most amazing pictures with words, if you only read one book this summer make it Peaches for Monsieur Le Cure by Joanne Harris, you will not be disappointed.
