Good morning – How are you? you may remember that yesterday afternoon I was off to a Mothers Tea Party at school. I felt I had to change the post that was due today to tell you how wonderful it was. It was one of those occaissions where everything they do just brings out the tears! When being a mummy – simply the best!
We all arrived in Pre-prep a group of waiting mummies with children in nursery, reception, year 1 and year 2. Once everyone had arrived we were invited into the classroom, the children were in a line waiting on us, my little girl came forward gave me a rose and then took me to sit down at a beautifully laid table.
. . . and what a wonderful table it was. The china was old and beautiful with delicate daisies, which it turns out belonged to the teacher – Mrs MacDonald’s Grandmother, there was flowers and pretty freshly made cucumber sandwiches. Then to our place settings, a handpainted placemat, a plate complete with a flower cake, a chocolate heart, a marshmallow heart and gift wrapped chocolates with a handmade sparkly tag.
Now by this point as mummies we are all a little emotional as only you can be when your children are being delicious. But then . . . it was time for . . . The Poem.
When I’m sad you help
When I’m happy you play
You’re the best Mummy ever
You smile at me all day
You are always really kind
Even when I’m a pest
I love you more than anyone
Mummy you’re the best
We hugged them we kissed them all had put so much effort and thought into producing each of the poems that were inside each of our cards . . and what magnificent cards each coming giftwrapped with a smile.
What a wonderful, memorable afternoon for all of us, well done Mrs MacDonald and and The Pre-prep at Duke of Kent School.
Dont you just love being a mum – all along the way we collect our memories – we all have them. Why not share yours, what is your very best thing about being a Mummy so far?
Till next time, thank you for reading
